Hello to tomorrow

From 14 November, the Eurostar arrives in St Pancras, which is now  Europe's most international railway station. The crystal and iron building  was designed by engineer William Henry BARLOW. It was restored and painted sly blue. It combines the best of the old with the best of the new

 

Some facts about St Pancras

• The Paris-London journey now takes 2 hours 15 minutes
• At the entrance, there is a bronze statue "The Meeting Place", designed by British artist Paul Day
• There will be the world's longest champagne bar
• The old hotel at the front of the station - the first in London to employ a lift - will reopen in 2009. It will be a luxury hotel with 245 rooms, a spa and a ballroom
• More than 1,000,000 were planted
• 1,000 bottles on champagne were put on ice and poured when the Queen officially opened the new terminal
