2008 : Liverpool is Europe's capital of culture

This weekend (January 12-13) Liverpudlian Ringo Starr launched the party  which celebrated the city's year as Europe's Capital of Culture

and the Wombats, the new band from Liverpool performed their new single which is released on Monday, January 14th
350 events are planned this year  with loads of concerts and exhibitions
